Martina and Anna Harmon display one of the barn quilt squares to be hung on a 4-H related building at this year's Clay County Fair.
The Lincoln Lions 4-H Club created a challenge for 4-H clubs and other organizations to paint a 4-by-4 barn quilt to decorate a 4-H related building on the Clay County Fairgrounds. This 4-H Club challenge fits into two of the 4-H program priorities citizenship/leadership and communications/arts. There will be a total of 12 barn quilts hung at the fairgrounds. The clubs and organizations that took part in the challenge include: Clay County 4-H Clubs- Spencer Sparks, Rabbit Ranglers, Sioux Valley Feeders, Garfield Go-Getters, Meadow Busy Bees, and the Lincoln Lions. Other organizations: Clay Central-Everly FFA, Sioux Central FFA, Clay County Farm Bureau, Clay County Cattlemen, Clay County Extension Office, Clay County Fair and Ag Citing.
When you are at the fairgrounds, check out the beautiful barn quilts that will be hung on the Horse Barns, Old Sheep Barn, Cattle Barns, Livestock Pavilion, 4-H Exhibit Building and Rabbit/Poultry Barn. Also thank you to Remillard Designs, from Dickens, for etching all the barn quilts.
